This project is designed to be highly dedicated to green design—lots of insulation and air sealing, rainscreen siding plus stucco, and durable interior materials.

We expanded the home to fit the life of the owners and the extended family that frequently visits. We designed two additions—one along to the south of the house creating an entry with coat closet plus a family room and flexible space. On the west, we designed a master bedroom and bath addition. It is a brick house and this brick can no longer be matched, so our strategy is to use stucco below and rainscreen composite siding above, with a roof shape that matches and blends. The old and new are distinct, but work together.
